“Since I was a kid, I always wanted to stand up and speak out for the people this world has left behind. Like the millions of girls who can’t get to school safely or who are forced into child marriage or denied their rights to reproductive health care. For that reason, I got myself into education. My work as an educator helped me pursue my passion in Canada and around the world through different organizations. My continued work with children of different ages allows me to use my voice to educate, bring attention and take action to the countless injustices and barriers girls still face around the world. Progress is there but it’s too slow and too fragile. We still need a lot of work. As a woman and a mother, I am so grateful to work with rksss and be a part of the movement that Raj Kumari Kusum always dreamt of.
